WHAT DOES ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES (APS) DO?
APS responds to reports of abuse, neglect, and, exploitation of older adults in the community. They respond to reports
of abuse in un-licensed assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and residential care homes.
APS also responds to incidents by home health agency employees (caregivers, nurse aides, etc.) within personal
homes and independent living units of long-term facilities. To report an incident, call

The Texas Elder Abuse Mistreatment Institute (TEAM) at UTHealth
Houston collaborates with APS to improve and protect the lives of
mistreated elders through clinical care and forensic assessment,
education, research and justice.
