WHAT DOES HEALTH AND HUMAN
SERVICES (HHS) DO?
Texas HHS licenses and regulates long-term care facilities. Any abuse,
neglect, and exploitation that occurs within licensed assisted living facilities,
nursing homes, and residential care homes can be reported to HHS.
Following the report, HHS will conduct investigations and take appropriate
actions against facilities. HHS also conducts regular inspections of long-
term facilities to ensure that residents are receiving quality care. To report
